What is Reiki?
Reiki means Universal Energy, which we are all part of. Quantam Physics explains that everything in the Universe is energy, which includes us and all that is around us. Things may appear solid or liquid but at subatomic levels all particles are just energy.
To me; working with Reiki or Universal Energy or 'putting hands on' is a connection with a deeper level of the physical body that we have become detached from. This then influences the body at cellular level by creating a stimulus that activates change. Repair is a natural process; we all do it.
During a 'hands on' treatment blood flow may increase to depleted areas, there is an increase in the oxygen content in the haemoglobin within the blood and then toxins /lactic acid that have built up can dissipate.
Reiki is classed as a healing therapy, but healing is not curing so therefore is often confused with 'making things better'. Things get better when issues are dealt with. A precept of Reiki is that the receipient must ask for it, this is simply because there is a desire then to help oneself.
Working with animals is a little different as how do we know they are asking? I offer the connection, it is their right to refuse if they want to.
So Reiki is a connection, an influence and communication with a deeper level, the source of who we are. It is nonjudgemental, not physically manipulative and responses can be profound at physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual levels. It is a way to rebalance and recconect within ourselves and start to change how we connect to all that is around us.
When taking a holistic overview of the horse and rider relationship i.e. looking at all the parts that may cause a problem, using Reiki can result in profound healing. Having just a 'hands on' session is always beneficial but the effect may be less obvious, but will be enjoyed!
So many of us are looking for peace and harmony, if we look within, with a little time, effort and patience we can find them. It is always there, we are just looking in the wrong places!!
During this journey, I have endeavoured to try and open myself to many different ideas from various cultures and traditions, what seemed the most bizarre, and has since become the most intriquing and transforming, is Metaphysics. I believe that we have an energetic system that we are generally unfamilar with, Metaphysics takes that further, informing us that the energy behind our thoughts, beliefs and emotions creates our reality. For instance (simply put) when we are in a bad mood we are creating a negative environment around us. We can see this when our days seem to deteriorate when we cannot shift our angry mood, what we don't realise consciously, is that we are creating it. All that is within our lives is linked with us energetically or it would not be there. So this, I believe, increases our obligation to become aware of how we are feeling and how this impacts on others, particularly our equine friends for they have less choices than us.
We are beings that have a greater, more knowledgable (though less recognisable) self and more a familar ego that deals with our every day existence, if we try to and work towards balancing the two, we improve the quality of our lives. (Its not easy; but its worth it!)
Life is meant to be fun. If it is not, then ask yourself why and how can I make it more enjoyable?
Life is just a lesson, there is no end to our learning. Perfection is an illusion.
Where we are now is where we are meant to be in life. If it is not where you want to be, then you need to learn more about why; and change it.
I have been accused in the past of living in Pink Fluffy Bunny Land, but working with energy is definitely much more than that, it is what we all are.
